About the Role
Amazon is seeking a Tax Analyst I to join the Direct Tax Reporting team in Hyderabad, supporting the Worldwide CapEx team. The role focuses on reporting U.S. income tax implications related to Amazon’s extensive portfolio of assets, including leases, fixed assets, intangible assets, and digital content.
The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Experience leveraging technology to organize and analyze large datasets is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Support the preparation of U.S. income tax provisions, forecasts, and tax returns related to CapEx transactions.
Analyze U.S. GAAP reporting and identify book-tax differences.
Prepare workpapers, technical memorandums, and conduct tax law research.
Assist with deferred tax reconciliations and identify drivers of basis differences.
Contribute to process improvements that enhance efficiency, scalability, and accuracy.
Help develop analytical reports and metrics for tax management, finance teams, and external auditors.
Coordinate information requests with business partners and external service providers to ensure timely and accurate tax reporting.
Participate in special projects as required.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Minimum 2 years of experience in U.S. corporate income taxation and consolidated tax compliance.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Experience working in a large public accounting firm or multinational corporate tax department.
Preferred Qualifications
Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or Enrolled Agent (EA) certification.
Experience with U.S. income tax reporting for CapEx transactions.
Knowledge of ASC 740.
Experience with CorpTax or similar tax preparation software.
Familiarity with Oracle Fixed Assets, BNA Fixed Assets, or equivalent systems.
Strong understanding of accounting principles, processes, and journal entries.
Experience collaborating with U.S.-based teams within income tax operations.
Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Proven project management capabilities in a fast-paced environment.
Self-driven mindset with a focus on improving processes for scalability, efficiency, and accuracy.
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills for managing large datasets.
