About the Role


Amazon is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Tax Analyst I to join its International Indirect Tax Compliance (ITX) team in Bangalore. This role is part of the Rekindle Returnship Program and focuses on supporting VAT compliance activities across EMEA and Rest of World (RoW) jurisdictions.


As part of a dynamic and collaborative tax team, you will contribute to the preparation and submission of VAT returns, support tax compliance initiatives, assist with audits, and work closely with internal stakeholders across Accounting, Tax, and Controllership functions. The role also offers opportunities to participate in process improvement and automation projects that support Amazon’s global tax operations.


Key Responsibilities


  • Prepare, analyze, and submit EMEA and RoW VAT returns and related filings.
  • Assist with VAT registrations across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Support VAT compliance inquiries from Amazon business teams.
  • Help map VAT processes and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Prepare or review month-end VAT account reconciliations.
  • Provide support for internal and external audits, including data analysis.
  • Collaborate with Accounting, Tax, and other business teams on VAT compliance matters.
  • Contribute to Tax Requirement Documents for technology teams.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects focused on automation and process optimization.
  • Support business growth initiatives and the onboarding of new entities into VAT compliance processes.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Tax, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in VAT advisory or VAT compliance with a basic understanding of VAT regulations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience working in a large public accounting firm or multinational corporate tax department.
  • Strong English communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Professional accounting or tax qualification such as CIMA, ACCA, ACA, AAT, or equivalent.
  • Additional language skills, including German, French, Spanish, or Arabic.
  • Ability to take ownership of work, implement changes, and solve problems effectively.
  • Comfortable working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
