Overview
Microsoft is hiring a CE Field Service Engineer to join its Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team. In this role, you will help support the infrastructure that powers Microsoft’s cloud services, including Azure, Microsoft 365, Bing, Xbox, and OneDrive. You will contribute to maintaining data center operations while ensuring safety, reliability, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with data center operational and service-level policies.
- Execute operational tasks and support assigned projects.
- Manage programs related to the assigned area of responsibility.
- Follow safety and security procedures and report any concerns immediately.
- Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) activities when required.
- Maximize Critical Environment (CE) availability in leased data centers.
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Review maintenance and operational procedures, risk mitigation, and change governance.
- Help reduce critical environment incidents and improve operational efficiency.
- Support emergency preparedness and response activities.
- Coordinate audits and compliance verification.
- Monitor power, temperature, humidity, and SLA performance.
- Build strong relationships with engineering teams and landlord partners.
- Share best practices and contribute to continuous improvement across data centers.
- Mentor team members and support knowledge sharing.
- Take ownership of service quality, safety, security, and customer experience.
- Support issue escalation to the appropriate teams when needed.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent with 2+ years of experience in a data center or other critical environment facility,
OR - 3+ years of industry experience along with relevant college coursework.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience with Critical Environment infrastructure such as UPS, generators, and AHU systems.
- Bachelor’s degree or technical college certification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and/or related services.
- Experience working on large-scale Critical Environment projects.
- Experience operating IT infrastructure, including servers, SANs, and networking equipment.
Additional Requirement
- Ability to meet Microsoft’s security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire and every two years thereafter.
