Job Purpose


Air Arabia is hiring a Payroll Specialist to support the Payroll Manager in managing payroll operations for assigned business areas. The role is responsible for ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with company policies, local labor regulations, and tax laws.


The position also focuses on analyzing payroll processes, recommending system improvements, maintaining confidentiality, enhancing customer satisfaction, and improving operational efficiency.


The successful candidate should have a strong understanding of HR system architecture, configuration management, troubleshooting business-critical applications, impact analysis, testing, validation, and controlled change management processes to ensure system integrity and business continuity.


Key Responsibilities


  • Conduct payroll activities and related data analysis for assigned business areas.
  • Coordinate with Line Managers, HR Managers, and the Finance Department for payroll approvals and waivers.
  • Analyze payroll practices and HR system processes to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Work closely with the IT department to implement approved system enhancements.
  • Verify and process payroll transactions, including:

    • New joiners
    • Advance payments
    • Claims
    • Deductions
    • Adjustments
    • Salary increments
    • Upgrades
    • Contractual bonds
    • Incentives
    • Bonuses

  • Perform post-payroll checks and reconcile HR system reports.
  • Coordinate with IT to resolve payroll system issues.
  • Generate and reconcile payroll journal vouchers for Finance.
  • Prepare recharge reports for payroll cost allocation.
  • Execute payroll adjustments and ensure payroll release after all validations.
  • Verify payroll transfers to designated bank accounts.
  • Monitor and approve End of Service (EOS) calculations.
  • Validate education reimbursements and housing payments.
  • Monitor monthly attendance records and identify irregularities.
  • Calculate and process overtime payments.
  • Verify leave records, credit hours, training, absences, and required approvals.
  • Ensure HR system interfaces are completed accurately and on time.
  • Guide, coach, and support HR team members.
  • Maintain accurate, secure, and updated payroll records.
  • Process payment requests from other departments while ensuring policy compliance.
  • Support internal and external audit requirements.
  • Generate payroll and HR reports for management and business needs.

People Management


  • Provide direction, coaching, and professional guidance to team members.
  • Create a performance-driven and engaged work environment.
  • Handle people management responsibilities in line with company procedures.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, HR, Statistics, Administration, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized university is preferred.
  • Alternatively, a higher diploma in a related field combined with relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of HR Payroll systems, HRIS, and ERP platforms such as SAP and Oracle.
  • Domain knowledge of Airline HR Systems.
  • Strong mathematical and numerical reasoning skills with high accuracy.
  • Fluent in English; Arabic is an advantage.

Experience Required


  • 5–7 years of payroll-related experience in any industry, preferably Airlines, Travel, or Tourism.
  • Minimum 2 years leading payroll functions, including administering, configuring, and supporting HRMS, Payroll, ERP, or similar enterprise systems.
  • Strong understanding of system dependencies, workflows, integrations, and the downstream impact of configuration changes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of change management processes.
  • Experience working in a mid-sized regional or multinational organization.
  • Experience managing and developing teams in high-volume and fast-paced environments.
